The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to perform research under the direction of Professor Doug Wolfe (Materials Science & Engineering) and Professor Aman Haque (Mechanical Engineering).Job Duties:Perform electrical characterization on semiconductor devices as a function of radiation exposure. The specimens are discrete wide bandgap devices (diodes and transistors) as well as larger systems (field programmable gate arrays, memory).Collaborate with national lab(s) to perform experiments that mimic ionizing radiation.Perform modeling and/or experimental analysis (microscopy, spectroscopy) to investigate the fundamentals of radiation effects in electronics.Analyze data.Disseminate findings in journals and conferences.Penn State is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms. We value inclusion as a core strength and an essential element of our public service mission.Qualifications and Requirements:Must be a US citizen.Applicants should have a Ph.D. as of the hire date in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical/Materials/Nuclear Engineering or related discipline.Excellent foundation in semiconductor device physics and reliability.Hands-on experience with device and system (discrete devices to FPGA) characterization.Experience in radiation effects (single event, total ionizing dose, displacement damage) is very helpful.Excellent written/oral communication skills.This is a postdoctoral position, funded for one year from the date of hire, with an excellent possibility of renewal pending available funding and satisfactory performance.Interested Candidates should submit a cover letter describing their interest in the position, a CV including a publication list, and names and contact information of up to three references.CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
